Yorkshire Premier Meat Sheffield plant closes leaving up to 59 without a job
A meat factory in Sheffield has stopped production and closed its doors.
The Yorkshire Premier Meat Sheffield plant has shut after a month long consulation with staff. The ANM group, which owns the site, says they could know longer afford to run the plant, saying its losses had become unsustainable.
The closure means 59 staff have been made redundant. Production has now been transferred to the company's other site in South Kirkby, where up to 10 vacancies will be available and which they say some staff will be considered for.
ANM Group chief executive Alan Craig said:
"I would like to thank all the staff for their efforts during what has been a very difficult period for everyone. Today’s closure is following their agreement."
The Sheffield site will now be marketed by ANM Group as a food production factory within the industry.
