Police have named the man killed in Barnsley on Saturday, as Philip Alan Smith.

The 36 year old was found with stab wounds in Church Street in Thurnscoe at around 4.30 after a disturbance near the junction with Houghton Road.

Officers are still questioning one man on suspicion or murder. 3 others have been released on bail.

Detective Superintendent Andy Thompson, the senior investigating officer, said:

"Extensive house-to-house and forensic enquiries have been taking place to establish the facts in this case. I still wish to hear from anyone who has any information or who witnessed the disturbance in Thurnscoe on Saturday afternoon."
